“I’ve tried to end my life more than once...I've been convinced my heart was giving out — but it wasn’t just my heart. It was my entire nervous system screaming for help.”
Since stepping into this world in 2021, I have learned more about myself — and the mind–body connection — than I ever imagined possible.
What astonishes me is how little of this life-changing knowledge is taught in schools. The gap between what we are taught and what we actually need to thrive — emotionally, physically, and mentally — is vast.
Emotional intelligence. Trauma awareness. Nervous system regulation. Somatic practices. Basic neuroscience. These should not be “extras”; they are foundational.
And yet, they are almost entirely absent from mainstream education. We are taught to memorise, not to embody. We are rarely shown how stress lives in the body, how belief systems shape identity, or how resilience is built through nervous system support.
What I truly needed to know at school was that living in daily pain was not “normal”.If my central nervous system could send persistent pain signals through my body, then surely it could be retrained.
If it was stuck, perhaps it could be unstuck. Everything I have learned since has come from textbooks, emerging science, holistic modalities — and, most importantly, lived experience.
And that is why I know this work creates real change. Because knowledge, when embodied, is freedom.
